Mehr News Agency Officially Launched

The inauguration of every news agency is a sign of development of the country, the minister said.

The multiplicity of the news agencies underlines the diversity of opinions and thoughts in the society, he said adding, the birth of the Mehr News Agency deserves admiration.

It will be pertinent if the news agencies and the media besides information dissemination put a specific topic on their agenda.

The difference between the Mehr News Agency and other agencies is that it has built a bridge between postmodernity and religion, he said adding it will try to uplift the culture of the country.

The word Mehr in Persian means ties, he said adding, honesty should be a base for public confidence-building.

The difference between Iran and other countries is that we have a rich cultural history which is a good source for our consolidation.

Mehr should reflect the real needs of the country, he said adding, it must try to create national accord, sympathy, solidarity and spread mercy in the society.

A number of top officials including members of the Guardian Council of the Constitution, the minister of culture and Islamic guidance, his deputy for media affairs, head of the Islamic propagation organizations, a number of ambassadors of foreign countries in Tehran, a number of editors-in-chief and managing directors of the newspapers and members of the policymaking committee of the Mehr News Agency attended the ceremonies.
